$280.00This course will introduce students to learn sketching practice to develop illustrations. Sketchbooks are where skills are strengthened, ideas are recorded, and designs are developed. Artists will learn to experiment and keep the horizon open to find visual language. Using various materials and tools, students will explore sketchbooks practising and experimenting with skills to keep them motivated, creative, and inspired throughout their artistic journey. Description: This beginner/intermediate class covers fundamental fine art skills. Students will learn to draw and paint still-life, portraits, landscapes, and subjects of their own choosing. This course will dive into both realistic and abstract art in a variety of styles, referencing great artists and movements such as surrealism, cubism, pop art, impressionism, and more. Students will begin by practicing basic techniques, sketching, and observation skills regardless of previous experience. The instructor will then work with each student to choose a project that is both challenging and inspiring for their level of ability. No previous experience is expected. Ages: 5-9 Materials: construction paper, cardstock paper, standard paper, watercolour paper, newspaper/magazine scraps, glue sticks, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, markers, oil pastel, chalk pastel, canvases or canvas paper, acrylic paint, paint palettes, paint brushes, aprons, scissors. Description: This class introduces young artists to fundamental skills such as observing shapes, light and shadow, basic perspective, and colour mixing. Students will be exposed to a variety of materials such as acrylic paint, watercolour, coloured pencils, oil pastels, and collage. Projects will frequently be focused around famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Yayoi Kusama, and Maud Lewis, giving students an understanding of different art movements and styles. No previous experience is expected. Come further your drawing skills for making comics, graphic novels, animation, or just filling up your sketchbooks! Improve your anatomy, perspective, storyboarding, and so much more. Let’s have some fun drawing together. Students are welcome to bring digital drawing tech (ipads, computers, etc) to class if they like, but it is not required (paper/pencils provided).
